Description: This piece was inspired as a response to white men, from any country, being given credit for and/or noted in history for “discovering” land, when, in fact, the land was already occupied by people that were native to that land. Think America “discovered” by Columbus. The center piece is a leather map of Africa with a ship at the bottom. Shreds of fabric are added to the bottom to represent how African lives were shredded as they were taken out of Africa as slaves.
