Description: I will forever be grateful to my family members who introduced me to sewing. I grew up around seamstresses who made clothing, so everyone looked nice and made quilts to keep the family warm. “Remembering the Quilts from the Past” is very personal because I feel as though I’ve honored two of my favorite relatives through their personal belongings. The Victrola (a phonograph from the Victor Talking Machine Company, Camden, NJ. It eventually became a generic term for any brand of phonograph.) was owned by my late Aunt Ethel Morris-Hall. My namesake Camilla Lewis gave me the Singer sewing machine when I was around twenty-five years old. That machine was one of two that I learned to sew on, and it is still with me. After the photographs were transferred to fabric, I gathered vintage cotton and feed sack fabrics for the quilt. The four corners were repurposed from an antique wreath. The quilt is also special as it is one of three quilts that I have hand quilted in my 20+ years of quilting.
